The Hotel

The entire hotel complex (80 rooms: 49 single rooms and 31 double rooms) has been reserved for the conference. On site rooms are spread out among several different buildings that are all close to one another and connected by a wooden walkway (Map). Each lodge has its own loundge area, a sauna and a whirlpool room. Complimentary wireless internet is available in all rooms and in the conference room. However, note that there is no cell phone signal.
When you register for the UBM2012 conference, we will reserve your room for 3 nights total, arriving Monday, September 24, 2012 and departing Thursday, September 27. The allocation of rooms will be made on a first-come first-served basis so be sure to register early to get the housing option you want. The conference committee recommends that students share a double room. Mutual roommates must request each other in the application form. Roommates will not be assigned together if only one person requests the other student as a roommate. If you arrive in Montréal prior to Monday, September 24, or stay past Thursday, September 27, your sleeping room accommodations must be made on your own for those days.
The Auberge Le Baluchon is a non-smocking facility. Smoking is prohibited in all guest rooms, restaurants, lounges, meeting room and interior public spaces.
Meals and allergies
Attendee meals as outlined in the registration section are included in your conference registration fees. Please indicate on the registration form any special meal requirements that you may have. Attendees with food allergies should also make a note of their meal requirements during the registration process.
Travel info
Montreal-Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport is the main Canadian airport serving the province of Québec. There are direct flights to and from about 130 regular and seasonal destinations in Canada, the United States and internationnally.
The Airport is located 20 kilometers from downtown Montréal. Ground transportation are available at the arrival level near the central exit:
The Société de transport de Montréal runs an express bus line ("747") between the airport and downtown. This 747 line is in service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (Schedule). The trip between Montréal-Trudeau Airport and the Montréal bus terminal at Berri-UQAM metro station takes approximately 35 minutes outside of rush hour. At the Airport, tickets (8$ for a one-way trip - Fare may change) are sold near the exit, at the international arrival level.
You can also get a Taxi . No reservation is required. There is a fixed fare (38$ - Fare may change) for the trip between Montréal-Trudeau Airport and downtown Montréal. Some drivers accept U.S. currency but provincial regulations require customers to pay in Canadian currency. Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards are accepted.
Montréal Gare Centrale (Central Train Station) is also a major stop for domestic trains from eastern or western Canada. The downtown station is conveniently connected to Bonaventure underground métro station (subway) by a pedestrain passageway.
From Montréal To St-Paulin
DEPARTURE: Shuttle busses will be organized from Montréal to St-Paulin on Monday September 24th. The shuttle will be leaving at 13:30 hrs. Participants will meet at the Gare d'autocars de Montréal (Bus station), 505 boul de Maisonneuve est (Subway station Berri-UQAM) (Further information).
RETURN: For the return of the participants to Montréal on Thursday September 27, the shuttle busses will be leaving at 14:00 hrs from The Auberge Le Baluchon.
Please mention in your registration form if you will take the shuttle or not.
Persons who prefer driving their own cars, driving instructions are provided below. You will also find usual car rental agencies at the airport or downtown Montréal.
From Montreal, we suggest taking highway 40. Follow exit 166; this will bring you to the centre of Louiseville; from there you take route 349 to Saint Paulin. If you are driving from the Montreal international airport you can count on approximately two hours travel to get to Le Baluchon by highway 40 (East).
From Quebec City, we suggest taking highway 40 (West). Follow exit 174; this will bring you to the center of Louiseville by the roundabout, from where you can take route 349 to Saint Paulin. If you're arriving at the Quebec airport, count on approximately two hours of travel to reach Le Baluchon via highway 40 (West).
Visiting Canada
