RESEARCH PROJECTS   

                                                                              

The research activities performed at the LBUM are in the field of medical imaging and biomedical engineering.  Several projects are currently conducted in our laboratory. These are related to the:

• Ultrasonic characterization of erythrocyte aggregation;

• Vascular ultrasound elastography of atherosclerosis;

• Micro-vascular ultrasound elastography applied to hypertensive rats;

• Dynamic ultrasound elastography of vascular thrombosis;

• Cellular imaging of blood flow rheological disorders;

• Segmentation of atherosclerotic vascular plaques in ultrasound imaging;

• Ultrasound imaging applied to the characterization of vascular stenoses;

• Biomechanical modeling of vascular stenoses and aneurysms.

• Mechanical and acoustical characterization of breast tumors.

In parallel to these research activities, the LBUM offers some services to the scientific community:

• Fabrication of multimodality vascular imaging phantoms;

• Histological cuts of rigid biological samples.
